2010 Summer Sermon Series: Choices A critical element in our Spiritual formation is simply learning how to make Godly choices. The Bible identifies that there are only two options- right and wrong. The right category reflects the will of God. The wrong category reflects all other options. We are called by God to master the art of Godly Choice making. This means learning how to identify and overcome wrong thinking and actions. This was the primary spiritual directive issued to humankind after our failure in the Garden of Eden. Initially directed to Cain, these words still stand as a major challenge for each of our lives, “…Sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.” Genesis 4:7b So how do we learn to master sin and make Godly choices? For most of us it boils down to an independent study option filled with trial and error. Unfortunately this method generally produces a state of spirituality that generates more forgiveness then accomplishment. This summer in a very thought provoking ten week sermon series entitled, “Choices” we will attempt to grasp a Biblical decision making system that is retainable, practical, and Godly. During this series you will be exposed to a new tool, The Choice Matrix, created to help you in the process of making Godly decisions. Each week we will have Bible verses that we collectively commit to memory to help reinforce relevant Biblical boundaries. Pod-cast and virtual notes will be available on our website for your private study.
